Hotel Bruny reimagines a beloved island institution, grounding a new era of gathering in the tangible provenance of its materials.
The extension adopts a mid-century inspired post-and-beam vernacular, constructed entirely from timber harvested and milled on the client's nearby farm. This structural rhythm not only defines the new function spaces and restaurant overflow but acts as a necessary windbreak, shielding the garden from the site's spectacular but exposed coastal outlook.
By dissolving the boundaries between indoor performance areas and the rugged exterior, the design creates a fluid, robust backdrop for music and community. Connected by new trails leading to the sea, the project strengthens the hotel's role as the island's social heart, offering a warm, tactile shelter for both locals and visitors.
Currently in design, expected construction commencement mid 2026.
