Edward draws on the industrial texture of Brunswick to create a resilient, garden-centric home that evolves with its inhabitants.

Anchored in the tactile history of the neighbourhood, the design engages with the local warehouse typology through raw brickwork and a distinct street-facing art studio.

Spanning two allotments, the plan establishes a clear dialogue between old and new; the existing cottage is repurposed as a private retreat for the children, while a modern, glazed extension pulls the social energy of the home towards the garden, positioning the kitchen and dining spaces as the stage for frequent gathering.

Layered landscapes — from draping roof gardens to the central lawn — filter connections between these zones, offering privacy without isolation. With a flexible office atop the rear garage, the architecture is built to adapt, supporting the shifting dynamics of family life over time.
