Anchor House

Anchored by the brick relic of a former mid-century dwelling, the design weaves through a native garden by Sam Cox, using concrete roof gardens to merge the built form with the coastal scrub.

The plan challenges conventional convenience to heighten the sensory experience; the main bedroom is reached via an external walkway bordering a billabong, forcing a moment of pause and connection with the weather. Materially, the home is designed to evolve — copper elements will patina over time, contrasting with the warmth of a prefabricated Candour timber structure.

With an artist studio tucked deeper into the bushland and a double-height kitchen connecting vertical levels, the home is a highly crafted yet robust vessel for coastal living.
