The Ashfield Range emerged when we were renovating an apartment on Ashfield Street in Hobart.
It was 2014, the same time we were building the Sawmill House and developing the Highline pendant, working with brass millers while thinking of fittings and fixtures that complemented the architecture of the spaces we were creating.
It was during this process we decided to create a brass towel rail and toilet holder for the Ashfield residence. We eventually incorporated these designs into subsequent projects, shifting their size for their new contexts. Through these shifts we refined our designs to create a range of products that suit different styles of homes.
The Ashfield Range celebrates quality material and simple design through the tactility of the brass and the way we form it. The result is a concealed structural wall fixing that connects to a larger railing. The towel rails and the toilet holder sit horizontally, while the robe hooks and toilet roll storage are perpendicular to the wall.
While we know these products will be covered from eyesight by towels and toilet paper, it’s important we get them right as we know they will be used every day.
They are simple sturdy brass bars that suit a variety of interior environments, and come in a range of sizes.
Brass is a material that ages uniquely from piece to piece, so the colour will change over time, but we believe these changes are characteristics to celebrate.
We’ve been using them in our projects for the past few years, and we’re finally ready to share them.
